WINE TASTING NOTE: 2021 Domaine Bousquet Chardonnay

Sometimes, you just want an honest, low-fuss glass of white wine on a hot day. And sometimes, you specifically want an organic wine. And/or maybe you want both!

If this is you, then this bottle will definitely hit the spot, particularly if you are a budget conscious consumer or you need a wallet friendly bottle for a given occasion.

We picked this wine up on a random whim because we needed a Chardonnay in my lineup.

While the bottle didn’t blow our socks off (which frankly wasn’t expected given the price point), what this bottle did do was deliver an enjoyable, crisp, textured clean wine in my glass at a very affordable price point.

A great study in what organic wine from Argentina’s Uco Valley can be, and how it doesn’t have to cost a fortune, if you ask us.

Now just a quick PSA/reminder - the term “organic” means different things to different people/agencies in different parts of the world. What a quick peruse of the @domainebousquetwines website will reveal however is that they have a long standing commitment to growing their grapes organically and are very committed to their land and the natural habitat.

About Domaine Bousquet

Domaine Bousquet is a family-run business with four generations of history in winemaking. The family orginally hails from the the South of France - they set up the domaine after a trip to Argentina in 1990. Stumbling upon the Gualtallary Valley in the Tupungato district of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, third generation winemaker Jean Bousquet felt certain that he had found something special. While Gualtallary is widely recognized as exceptional wine country today, the Bousquet family was among the first to set up shop here so many years ago.

And since that time, they have been producing fruit forward, honest organic wines. Today, they are one of the top 20 wine producers in Argentina and they export 95% of their production (all made with organically grown grapes) to 50 countries worldwide. Wineitupanotch Tasting Notes

Orchard fruit - think apples, lemons, limes - are at the forefront. There is a pleasant acidity on this wine and a slightly spicy edge which keeps things interesting. This is an easy to drink sipper, perfect for large gatherings in the backyard or on a patio with the sun shining bright. It is a really solid value at under $20.

Wine it up a notch by pairing this wine with green salad, scallop ceviche or soft ripened cheese.

Cheers, Friends!
