WINE TASTING NOTE: Bodega Malma Family Reserve Pinot Noir 2023

Bottle and glass of wine

This one is for all of the Pinot Noir lovers out there. Or, if you’re not specifically a Pinot Noir lover per se, but you enjoy a fruit forward, soft and elegant wine, then this one is for you as well.

Traditionally, Pinot Noir wines made from the most esteemed parts of the wine world can be very, very (and sometimes you need to add another “very”!) pricey. Think Burgundy or California for example. Pinot Noir from these regions can run you a pretty penny.

Luckily, there are other parts of the wine world that are still up and coming, especially as it relates to the ‘heartbreak grape’ i.e. Pinot Noir. Patagonia, Argentina happens to be one such area.

With a naturally cool climate, Patagonia is actually well positioned to do excel with Pinot Noir, especially in the face of climate change. Admittedly, the wine industry is in somewhat infancy stage in this remote part of the world, however this should not be taken to mean that there are no good wines being produced here. To assume so would be a mistake.

Lighter in style, and lighter on the wallet, Patagonian Pinot Noir presents a fascinating opportunity for the intrepid and adventurous wine lover. This wine will prove this to you in spades.

About the producer

Bodega Malma is a family owned and operated enterprise. It has been producing wines since 2004 and is one of the leading wine producers in Neuquén province, Patagonia, Argentina.

Wineitupanotch Tasting Notes

Delightful bright and crunchy red fruits such as red cherries, strawberries and pomegranates dominate on the palate. The tannins are very soft and supple, and wood notes do not overpower this wine but rather add an interesting back note that a careful taster would be able to find. The nose is very expressive - florals, bright red fruits and a hint of spice jump from the glass, which is lovely. The wine is notably light in body, making it easy for most consumers to enjoy.

Very fairly priced, this is a wine that is perfectly affordable and a really nice weeknight sipper!

Wine it up a notch by pairing this wine with pan seared salmon and roasted potatoes or carrots!

Cheers, Friends!
